the cook family adoption story.
Gender/Country: infant from the US
Prospective Adoptive Parents: Aaron and Laura Cook
“The Family is the primary place where evangelism and discipleship are intended to take place and therefore we would love to raise another little one to believe and enjoy Christ. WE have felt the call and desire to adopt even before we had biological children and always knew it would be something we would pursue when the time was right. We live in a wonderful environment conducive to spiritual growth and a great family atmosphere. We believe that God has called us to adopt, love and train another to know Christ.”
For over eleven years, Aaron and Laura have shared Christ with thousands of children and hundreds of college students in their ministry at Scioto Hills Christian Camp. They manage their money very carefully because their four-year-old son, Dylan, has cystic fibrosis, a heartbreaking diagnosis that has deepened their faith and given them a deeper understanding of God’s daily provision. They are eager to share with another child the deep love and care that God has for everyone.
The Cook family is adopting domestically from Ohio. The agency they are using works with the Crisis Pregnancy Centers in the state to provide homes for the infants being given up for adoption. In Ohio, an adoption is permanent after 72 hours. At that time, the birth mother may sign the papers and the infant can go home from the hospital to his new family. We are very impressed by this family’s commitment to sharing Christ with others and feel they would make an extraordinary adoptive family.
